Performance Improvements

The massive surge in traffic revealed a number of opportunities for optimizations. We've made significant improvements to our infrastructure, and users should see faster page loads and more efficient data processing.

New features

YouTube Music

We do our best to locate a "podcast playlist" on YouTube Music rather than a channel to provide listeners the best experience. As a fallback, we used to link to their search results page, but now, YouTube Music supports linking to their "Add RSS feed" flow. So even if a podcast doesn’t have a YouTube account, you can easily add their feed to your library.

Search

After adding support for feeds beyond Apple Podcasts, it became clear searching by feed URL wasn’t sufficient. Our search box can now surface results from the Podcast Index in addition to the existing Apple Podcasts search.

Show Notes

Show notes haven’t received much love from us. Be default, we show three lines of truncated text. Tapping on them now opens a modal with full support for links and rich HTML elements.

Live App Filtering Restored

Landing pages for live episodes once again filter down the list to only include apps that support the liveItem tag. Apologies for the feature regression!
