Expanding supported apps and feeds

Six months after launching Episodes.fm, we're excited to unveil some significant platform improvements. These updates are designed to make it easier for podcasters to reach new listeners and integrate with a wider range of apps.

Integrating new podcast platforms

Today, we’re adding support for 14 new platforms, including:

  • YouTube Music
  • iHeartRadio
  • Audible
  • Pandora
  • Deezer
  • TuneIn Radio
  • Global Player
  • iVoox
  • Downcast
  • Podcast App
  • RSSRadio
  • Apollo
  • LN Beats
  • Podurama

By default, we save a first-time visitor’s preferred podcast app based on their selection, and returning visitors are automatically redirected to their preferred podcast app. We do our best to honor that promise. Even if we can’t confidently identify a match, we’ll still redirect to a platform’s own search results as a fallback. For shows that measure downloads with OP3, we’ll sort the apps based on their popularity with your existing audience.

Dynamic page colors

Episodes.fm automatically pulls the dominant color from your show and episode artwork to recolor the pages and social preview image. This provides a more cohesive, branded experience for your listeners as they discover and engage with your show.

Trailers and Serial Optimizations

Requested by Evo Terra, we’ll highlight a show’s latest trailer when available. Otherwise, episodic shows will promote their latest episode, and serial shows will promote their first episode. Serial shows will also have their episodes list sorted oldest to newest.

Updated Player Controls

Requested by Matt Medeiros, we’ve update our on-page player to enable skip forward/skip back, playback speed, and a slightly longer progress bar for easier scrubbing.

Supporting feeds beyond Apple Podcasts

Requested first by Adam Curry, shows on Episodes.fm are no longer required to be listed in the Apple Podcasts directory. Just drop a feed URL into our search field to generate a page for the show.

Final Thoughts

I hope this batch of features was worth the wait! Please take it for a spin and let us know what you think!
